Monterrey-based ABA Seguros is a leading Mexican insurance company that has been operating for more than half a century. In May 2013, it was sold for the equivalent of US$865 million to the ACE Group in a process led by Mr. González Dávila.
The ACE Group is a global insurance company with executive offices in Zurich, Bermuda, and New York. Its parent company, ACE Limited, is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, where it is a component of the S&P 500 stock index.
ABA grew to a position of prominence in Mexico by focusing on retail insurance services, in particular automobile, residential, and small business coverage. The company has more than 30 sales offices nationwide and also distributes through more than 2,000 independent brokers, as well as banks and automobile concessionaires. The merger with ACE brought ABA the expertise, infrastructure, and technology needed to expand its capabilities into an all-around insurance company that can cater to any industrial demand. This is particularly significant for its home base in Nuevo León, which has an advanced industrial sector that demands integrated solutions, often with international capabilities.
