BIOGRAPHY
Originally from Bolivia, Enrique García holds a B.S. and a M.A. in Economics and Finance from St. Louis University and doctoral studies at American University. Mr. García has been President and CEO of CAF since December 1991, a multilateral financial institution with 18 member countries, committed to sustainable development and regional integration of Latin America and the Caribbean. He has also held several other important positions in his home country, including Minister of Planning and Coordination and head of the Economic and Social Cabinet of Bolivia (1989-1991), as well as occupying senior positions at the Inter-American Development Bank for 17 years. Mr. García also sits on the Board of various foundations and centers for study, including the Advisory Board of the Center for Latin American Studies at Georgetown University, among others.
CAF
CAF is a development bank created in 1970, made up by 19 countries – 17 of Latin America and the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal- as well as 14 private banks in the region. It promotes a sustainable development model through credit operations, non-reimbursable resources, and support in the technical and financial structuring of projects in the public and private sectors of Latin America.
With headquarters in Caracas, Venezuela , CAF has offices in Buenos Aires, La Paz, Brasilia, Bogota, Quito, Madrid, Mexico D.F, Panama City, Asuncion, Lima, Montevideo and Port of Spain.
