BIOGRAPHY
Juan Fonseca joined FEMSA in January 2002, after spending several years at J.P. Morgan & Co. in New York working on mergers and acquisitions, as well as on the origination of structured financing alternatives for Latin American corporations.
For over a decade, Mr. Fonseca has been the main point of contact between FEMSA and Wall Street, as FEMSA itself has evolved from a Mexico-centric beverage company to a more diversified consumer-focused corporation with operations in ten countries on two continents. Along the way, the market capitalization of the company has multiplied tenfold and has helped make FEMSA the second-largest component of the Mexican Stock Exchange IPC Index.
Mr. Fonseca holds a BSc from Mexico’s Universidad Iberoamericana and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
FEMSA
FEMSA is a leading company that participates in the beverage industry through Coca-Cola FEMSA, the largest franchise bottler of Coca-Cola products in the world; and in the beer industry, through its ownership of the second-largest equity stake in Heineken, one of the world’s leading brewers with operations in more than 70 countries. In the retail industry it participates with FEMSA Comercio, operating various small-format chain stores, including OXXO, the largest and fastest-growing chain of stores in Latin America. FEMSA’s core operations are supported by a Strategic Business unit that provides logistics and point-of-sale refrigeration solutions.
