BIOGRAPHY
Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah was named minister of state for cabinet affairs in December 2012,after a brief stint as minister of information. He has also served as minister of health. In 2014, Sheikh Al-Sabah also served briefly as acting minister of justice during a ministerial transition.
Previously, Sheikh Al-Sabah was the chairman of the authority for citizen service and assessment of government performance for ten years. Between 2001 and 2002, he served asassistant undersecretary for information and research affairs at the Ministry of State for National Assembly Affairs. He spent a year working as a manager at the Central Policy Unit at the General Secretariat. He entered the General Secretariat for Council of Ministers in 1997 working as a researcher for the Department for Cabinet Subcommittees.
Sheikh Al-Sabah holds an honors degree in political science from Nottingham University in England and an MA in international studies and diplomacy from the University of London. From 1990 to 1992, he attended Oxford University, and from 1988 to 1990 he studied at Eton College.
From 1993 to 2001, he was a member of the board of trustees of the International Investment Group.
He speaks Arabic, English, and French.
His hobbies are reading, hunting, shooting, golf, tennis, and music.
The Cabinet Affairs Ministry
The Cabinet Affairs Ministry is akin to a general secretariat for the Council of Ministers, the most senior advisory body to the prime minister;dealing with a wide range of matters,including domestic and foreign affairs.
In recent years, the ministry hasbeen involved in issues as varied as preparations for an Arab League Summit, held in Kuwait andlegislative changes to promote the US$100 billion-plusdevelopment of Silk City and Boubyan Island; a project that includes a 32-kilometercauseway and bridge across Kuwait Bay that will significantly cut journey time between the north and south of the state.
